Beets in foil, whole, baked in the oven

We use beets for cooking many dishes - borscht, salads, snacks, sandwich caviar. Usually housewives boil the root crop, if not raw, but already thermally processed beets are required. Not everyone knows that if you do not boil it, but bake it whole in the oven, then the vegetable turns out to be much tastier, sweeter, richer. All natural taste is concentrated in the pulp and does not go into the broth, as it partially happens during cooking. In addition, less vitamins are destroyed when baked.

Cooking process

step 1 out of 8
It should be noted right away that for baking, you need to choose small and medium-sized fruits. Moreover, it is very desirable that they are of the same size - in this case, all root vegetables will be baked in the same time. First of all, thoroughly rinse the beets under running water. If necessary, use a brush to remove all dirt from the surface.
step 2 out of 8
Next, we spread each root crop on a paper towel and dry it well - there should be no excess moisture.
step 3 out of 8
We prepare pieces of foil according to the size of the beet, according to the number of root crops.
step 4 out of 8
Place the piece of foil with the shiny side up. We place the beets on it and wrap it on all sides so that there are no gaps. We squeeze it with our hands.
step 5 out of 8
Thus, we wrap each root vegetable in foil. Place the beets in foil on a dry baking sheet or in a wide baking dish so that the vegetables do not touch each other. It is advisable to lay the beets so that the edges of the foil are on top - it will be more convenient to unfold them to check readiness.
step 6 out of 8
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 180 degrees. We put a baking sheet with beets in it and bake for forty minutes. Then we lower the temperature to 150 degrees and continue to bake for another fifty minutes. By the end of the baking time, unfold the beets and pierce with a toothpick: if it enters easily without resistance, then the roots are ready.
step 7 out of 8
We take out the baked beets, let cool slightly and remove the foil. Let it cool completely.
step 8 out of 8
If you plan to use the beets right away, then peel them - they come off quite easily. If you plan to use it later, then the baked root vegetables in the peel can be placed in a plastic bag and stored in the refrigerator for two to three days.
Bon Appetit!
