During this time, prepare the cherry pie filling. Soak gelatin, preferably instant gel, in 150 ml of cold water. Place the cherries (fresh or defrosted) in a small saucepan, add the rest of the sugar and heat over low heat to give the berry juice. When the cherries boil, pour the swollen gelatin over it and stir quickly to dissolve the gelatin completely. Then separate the berries from the syrup through a sieve.
